As a sperm donor, you are covered by the Children’s Act
WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?
Is there a law about sperm donors? No, but as a donor, you are mentioned in the Children’ Act. Also, before becoming a sperm donor at European Sperm Bank, you sign a contract that you do not have any paternal or legal obligations to any children that are the result of your donations. The same also applies to the donor children, who have no legal claims to the donor.
According to the Danish Children’s Act, the message is the same.
“…a sperm donor is not to be considered as the father of a child, who is the result of assisted reproduction with his donor sperm through a sperm bank.
A sperm donor therefore has no rights to children born with the help of his sperm, and neither the child nor its mother have any claims towards the donor.”
