WHAT WE SCREEN FOR
It is important that all sperm donors are healthy and have a high sperm count. Therefore, we perform a semen analysis and screen all sperm donor candidates carefully before they can become a donor – and for as long as they donate. This is part of the application process, which you can learn more about right here.
Our sperm donor test and application process for candidates are comprised of interviews, screening of blood and urine, medical examinations and comprehensive genetic tests. We follow EU guidelines on screening sperm donor candidates.
We test blood and urine for the following diseases:
- Blood type (Rh- and ABO systems)
- HIV I/II
- HTLV I / II
- Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
- Hepatitis B Core Antibody
- Syphilis
- CMV IgG / IgM
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Thalassemia
- Sickle Cell Disease
- Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
- Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)
